It may be stubborn and require gentle prying from side to side as the o-ring has to collapse to pass through the hole in the fuel filter housing. Cycle the fuel pump while watching the fuel bowl for leaks. This is a Teflon coating that Ford had their o-rings coated with in an attempt to keep the Buna-N o-rings from swelling. I show it this way so it will show up in the photo. The photo below shows the fuel filter cap removed with the old filter in place. While it may be possible to use this kit to convert another brand of Regulated Return to a Fuel Bowl Delete system, doing so is not something that we can offer support for. Install the new o-rings on the fuel bowl plugs, lubricate with a small amount of diesel fuel and reinstall in the fuel ports. Verify the length of the upper blue hose - it may need to be cut to match the length of the old hose. A beveled gasket and an O-ring as shown below. Just connect a three or four foot piece of hose to the tube and then the fuel filter housing can be drained of diesel fuel.

Push the wire routing clip back into the cover. This technique works for us, although you may find an alternative arrangement of the steps below works better for you. Remove the two bolts that hold the fuel canister on they are at the rear and it will lift out. Improper cleaning can keep the o-rings from properly contacting the canister body, drain valve stem and body. Tighten these fittings to 60 - 65 lb-in. Note how dirty it is. Replace the o-ring on the valve stem, coat the o-ring area with a small amout ot light grease, Vaseline works well.
