I did like that we finally found the Heavens, that Valentina was discovered and captured, and that we got to see some of the characters from previous books. Author Victoria has been living with her pets for a very long time now.

This boo The Effinton series continues with Alexei's sister, Tatiana. In this way and others, Tatiana sometimes comes off as a bit entitled. Her years as a broadcast journalist were spent in two radically different areas of the country: Nebraska and West Virginia. Can a Princess and the 4th son find happiness and a life together, that is the big question of this book. Anyway, this story was chalk full of adventure, including missing jewels and an evil adversary trying to thwart all of Tatiana's plans. Matt wanted to fly balloon, but Tatiana keeps secrets and wants lost royal jewels, pursued by evil beautiful cousin. This book is filled with half truths and mostly lies of omission and it all leads to trouble. The main characters weren't as humorous as those in The Prince's Bride, but I did enjoy the story once I had the opportunity to sit down and read it.
Regardless, she obviously wants Matthew, and yet he's completely and delusionally ignorant of this fact. Louie took on the position of loyal companion and did a fine job even though he doesn't understand that kitchen counter surfing is not allowed! I like that Tatiana is up front enough to tell Matthew that she wants him back and yes, she's eager to get back into his pants. Matthew may well lend her his hand but he'll never again give her his heart. I'm not a fan of the Big Misunderstanding in romance stories. My life as a princess, or a peasant, is not worth living without you in it.

As if he didn't care enough to so much as glance at her. She don't tell him she is looking for her country's lost jewels or that a crazy cousin is on the loose in England. The subterfuge is necessary, of course, because she's concerned that dealing with a minor princess from a little country from somewhere in central Europe will intimidate the dowagers of some of England's most powerful families. Matthew is a likable enough hero. It's been a while since I loathed a heroine the way I loathed this one. I think i liked Matthew's character more than Tatiana's, I understood him more.
